Franktown, Indiana – The Franktown Police Department has formed its very first Task Force to fight crime in that city. This newly formed Task Force was the brainchild of Chief Martin, Franktown’s fourth Chief of Police in the past 6 years.

The new Task Force will be called “The Task Force to Combat Crime” or TFCC for short.

“Our crime numbers are pretty much in line with others across the country but we felt it was time to form our own,” explained Chief Martin.

“My staff has been nagging me for months to form a Task Force but I didn’t want to compromise our manning levels on the street,” said the Chief.

“But after saying the two words, Task Force, over and over in my head, a change took place in my thinking,” said Chief Martin

“I strange sensation of calm and peace washed over me, those two words really did change my life,” he emotionally pined.

“What I liked most about forming the Task Force was actually saying the words, Task Force, to our mayor and citizens,” continued Chief Martin. “It was like the problem had already been solved before the first car with a broken taillight had been stopped.”

The Task Force to Combat Crime

The Task Force to Combat Crime was a sensation from the beginning.

Manning the Task Force meant that officers would be pulled from uniform patrol and other duties from across the department.

The TFCC’s primary responsibility would be responding to high priority calls in hopes of catching the bad guys.

The Task Force became very good at setting up perimeter’s and on rare occasions would speak to the victim’s directly until a road officer could get there and take the report.

Citizens didn’t seem to mind that only a handful of officers were responsible for answering calls and would sometimes take hours to get to their complaint.

“I was disgusted and wanted to just leave Franktown when it took officers 2 hours to get to my house,” Ms. Cooke said, holding back tears. “But when the Sergeant explained the situation and the Task Force, I was okay with it.”

“Heck, after a couple of days of hearing my friends and neighbors talk about the Task Force to Combat Crime, I was more than okay with it,” related Ms. Cooke.

“I don’t even lock my doors at night anymore knowing we have our very own Task Force like other cities,” proudly proclaimed Ms. Cooke.

Is the Task Force to Combat Crime (TFCC) working?

Although only formed several months ago, early indicators are that the Task Force has done absolutely nothing to bring crime down in the city.

“And we’re okay with that,” Chief Martin quipped defensively.

“The one thing I learned along time ago, long before I became the rock star Chief you see before you, was that statistics on crime don’t mean anything,” said Chief Martin.

“The number one thing is perception,” proclaimed Martin.

“People just feel safer when they know there’s a Task Force out there keeping them safe,” Chief Martin continued.

“Heck, the citizens were even starting to call our city “FranGhanistan” up until we formed the Task Force to Combat Crime,” he said.

“But I haven’t heard that term for our city in almost a week so the Task Force must be working,” Martin advised.

Our interview was cut short as yet another shooting had just occurred in the embattled town of Franktown. As Chief Martin was rushing to his unmarked cruiser, he was asked if he had any regrets or doubts about the Task Force.

“My only regret is that I should have formed more of them.”
